Anonymous Makes Everyone Reporters with a DIY Press Pass

Anyone can be a reporter, really
​After a half-dozen journalists were arrested during last week's BART protests because they did not have press passes, Anonymous decided to make it that much easier for just about anyone who can use the Internet to remain at the protests -- legally.

We found a handy press pass on Twitter user and self-described "hacktivist" Peter Fein's Twitter feed this morning. Fein, who also describes himself as a programmer, cook, and human who wears pants (thanks, Fein), made the argument that "HTTP makes us all journalists."

So forget journalism school! What a complete waste of time and money.
"Get arrested like the pros w/ DIY press pass from ," Fein writes.

So in case you were lacking the credentials, here is the full press pass. Maybe journalism students can carry it with them as a backup.

It is hard to determine if this is a joke or meant as irony.The pass won't be taken seriously, which is the joke part. The irony is this DIY Press Pass corresponds so precisely with Anonymous's ideology. As they still seem to miss the obvious.

The irony is that if you're on public property, you don't need a press pass in the first place.
