Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to Hold Protest After Recent Gay Beatings
| Fighting back ... peacefully |
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is teaming up with The Castro Community On Patrol (CCOP) and the Triangle Martial Arts Association and will march through the streets of the Castro where there have been reported incidents of hate crimes.
According to the group's Facebook page
This Saturday starting at 3 p.m. at Jane Warner Plaza on the corner of Market and Castro we take back the streets. Join us for a Stop the Violence march to the four locations where the hate crimes took place since July 31st. Then help us hand out Safety Packets and whistles to help keep our GLBT family safe. Make Signs, bring horns we need to make everyone aware that we will not tolerate violence against GLBT in San Francisco and abroad.Earlier this week, a group of teens beat a San Diego man with a baseball bat while yelling "Fuck you, faggot," as he was walking near Market and Sanchez streets. The teens hit the man four times with the bat before taking his kets and running off. He waited a day before reporting the incident.
On July 31, a Sister of Perpetual Indulgence was attacked by a woman who pushed him and called him a "faggot" as he walked near Blue restaurant on Market Street in the Castro.
No arrests have been made.
