Sometimes domestic disputes involve children and other times they involve pets. A San Carlos woman is in jail after she had it out with her ex-boyfriend and took a knife to his pet lizard.
Police arrested 37-year-old Shawna Kim Apour and charged her with domestic violence, vandalism, and animal cruelty. She was booked in San Mateo County Jail.
The unfortunate fight started Saturday around 3:40 a.m. inside the man's home on the 1000 block of Crestview Drive. Amid the heated argument, Apour pulled out a knife and sliced the man's 14-year-old bearded dragon. She then left on foot, police told reporters. Cops tracked Apour a few blocks. She pulled a knife on officers, who pulled Tasers on her.
She was arrested and then released on bail. On Tuesday around 6:50 p.m., deputies responded to a call of a suspicious person walking through traffic. Apour was found on the railroad tracks near the San Carlos train station, police said. She again allegedly became aggressive with officers, trying to remove a deputy's weapon and stun gun. She was arrested again, but this time on suspicion of attempting to disarm a deputy, trespassing, resisting arrest, and committing a felony while out on bail.
As for the little lizard, he was taken to the vet, where he received stitches. He's recovering and is expected to survive.
