Cyclist killed
Update 2 p.m.: Lieutenant Troy Dangerfield told us that the 25-year-old Asian woman is still in critical condition after being hit by a food delivery truck this morning. He said the cyclist made an illegal left hand turn in front of the truck when she was hit. The woman, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

Update 10:08 a.m.: Police just sent out a release correcting their previous statement that the cyclist had been killed. Officer Albie Esparza is now saying that the woman is at the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Original story 9:14 a.m.: Traffic is backed up near the Embarcadero after a cyclist was killed at the intersection of Fremont and Mission streets this morning.

A truck collided with the cyclist at about 8:04 a.m., said Officer Albie Esparza. Police are at the scene. No further details were available at this time.

Last week, a speeding cyclist hit a 60-year-old woman as she walked through the crosswalk along Mission street. In that case, the cyclist blew a red light and hit the woman, who remains in the hospital with a life-threatening head injury.

Chris Bucchere should be arrested and tried for felony.  I'm sick of bicyclists who think they own the road.  Especially since I like to bike myself around town, and pay attention to the laws of the road, which are the same as those for any other moving vehicle.

It's time traffic tickets for bicyclists equal the SAME AMOUNT as cars for traffic similar violations.  It would help slow down (if not entirely stop) stupid bicyclists from putting others in harms way, and bring int a ton of cash to the county coffers.

Well, I hope she now realizes the importance of following, obeying, traffic protocols, rules and etiquette.  She ain't biking no more!

The update at 2PM says the cyclist is still in critical condition. Yet, under the picture of the bike it says "cyclist killed". And the original story also says the cyclist was killed. Soooooooo? Does that mean the bike is still in critical condition? Or perhaps the food truck?

The picture shows the bike on the side of the road, and the sheet was over something in the middle of the road in the crosswalk.  They would have had to move the bike to the middle of the road and then throw a sheet over it.

So, if the cyclist went to the hospital with injuries, what was under the sheet in front of the truck for a while?
