Brian Wilson's New Cleats Are Even More Awesome Than His Orange Spikes

Fashion faux-pas
Now that we think about it, it was about this time last year that Giants closer Brian Wilson started growing his now ubiquitous black beard. He had told his fellow teammates that he'd shave it when they lost -- and, well, that day never came.

So now, a year later, Wilson talks about his facial fame. "I never knew there was such thing as morning beard," Wilson tells MLB. "It's like a spider's nest."

Aside from his iconic shoe-polish-black beard, Wilson also garnered fame for the hideous orange cleats he wore during last year's All-Star game. He was later fined for trying to don them again in the regular season. But screw the orange cleats. Wilson will be wearing some new spikes for the All-Star game that promise to be even more eccentric.
"I wanted metal shoelaces, but apparently they don't tie well," Wilson says. "It could have been glorious."

The orange and black cleats are hand-painted with a picture of Wilson (no machine!) above each Nike swoosh.
