The passages you are referring to are about humility. God does not want us to have a motive of benefiting ourselves when we help others. he doesn't want us to toot our own hour. But God does want us to spread the truth of his word and declare That Jesus is the Savior of the world. I think homosexuality is something some people can be born with and also a societal influence in many cases. For instance someone might simply be different and over time are label as strange or gay so they come to embrace the homosexual lifestyle.It's true no one can stop being gay on their own, but through God someone can. It's man-made propaganda to say someone can't change. It's not just for Gays but everyone's philosophy is , " I'm ok just the way I am." God can transform a person completely. Alcoholics have been changed, drug addicts have given up drugs, smokers have stopped smoking, adulterers, liars, murders, etc all changed by Jesus.. All of us deal with some issue. God cane redeem anyone including homosexuals but one must believe, have faith, pray and read the bible, God will do the rest! Pray for Michael cause he's trying to overcome and live like God wants him to live.

This story of Michael, makes me so sad for him, If he is gay, and I believe based on the story Michael is gay.. then, he can go to Wyoming and become a fundamentalist Christian, and even marry a woman, and I really feel sorry for her if that happens.., and he will still be gay. That is obvious to most of us.. as far as faith, having grown up in a evangelical home in my early years, and I come from preachers and evangelists in my family whose hate, judgement, and bigotry can strip paint off the walls. All in the name of Jesus and sadly it gives Jesus a very bad name and an unfair rap. This religion as it is practiced by many robs gay people and others of "source" the never ending place of grace and peace and replaces it with cruelty and judgement. In reality if Jesus were walking around earth right now, he would be with GLBT community, because i don't believe he was the type to hang out with my relatives, and I doubt that he would see the need to change us or fix us. Christianity as a religion leaves the different on the field of the disgarded, the wounded bleeding, the thirsty with out water, the lonely abandoned, all in the name of religion and dogma. One of these people got a hold of a lonely young man. While I disagree with nearly everything Michael believes right now, he made a few points that landed. There have been times, that I've not had too many thoughts about the gay community but I never thought that made me straight and some pretty cool friends over the years have been as close as any family member and I love them for it. Michael may change, for his sake I hope in the fullness of time that he can accept the Devine that loves him and us the way we are made, and the Devine spark that each of us carries and he still carries in his web of confusion. Unpacking our feelings and emotions while are valuable, the skill is not for damage to self or others.. Michael has not hurt others, but he has perhaps hurt one of the most important people, himself.

What exactly is a Christian drone, and why is it so hard for any of you here to believe that someone who knows and loves God/Jesus Christ, can be delivered (I know this word sounds very harsh but I don't know how else to say it) from something 'they' feel is against the God who made each and every one of us? If this young man has decided within himself that this is what's BEST for him, and those of you in the gay community always talk about how you want people to respect you (I know, some of you don't care, but apparently this man does), then why can't you do the same for him?

You talk about Christians (and others) disrespecting you and having no compassion, but when we read the comments here it really makes you wonder, because it seems like it's a two way street. Why must those who disagree with you and others always be labeled, why can't they have a heart of love for you even when they don't agree with you??

Logan, sorry to hear about your family and what they did to you, but did their hatred of you have anything to do with "what the scriptures say or was it all their own opinions"? If it was 'their own opinions' then that's most definitely being bigoted and hate filled, but if they were following the dictates and mandates of 'the Bible' (and doing it in a non bigoted and judgmental way) then that's a totally different story. The Bible is like a mirror image to what's going on in our souls Logan, and God's ways are most definitely NOT our ways, which makes it even harder for us to understand. Jesus Christ went to that cross WILLINGLY Logan for EVERY human who ever lived on this earth, but sadly too many don't want His or God's love, they want to live their own lives and die separated from the only God who ever really cared about them. John 3:16 is the greatest act of love we will ever know Logan, and I pray you realize that one day soon.

Lastly, GOD HATES RELIGION (ever notice how there's only one good reference to it in the whole Bible, James 1:27??), which has NOTHING to do with AUTHENTIC CHRISTIANITY (the heart felt, mind and life changing relationship, with God the Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ). If Jesus Christ and Him alone is your "source", then NO ONE can ever rob you of anything 'real'. You're in my prayers Logan and all others in the gay (lesbian, bi, trans, etc.) community, God does care about you all, but He's also 'Holy, Righteous, and Just' and is waiting for you to come and get to know Him.

The story seems to go with the assumption that Mr. Glatze is either gay or "not really gay," but there's no suggestion he's attracted to women, which would be a prerequisite to being "not really gay." "Celibate" is a different category.

BTW, I've met about 6 gay people who suffered into their 30s or 40s, being unwilling to admit they were gay, but knowing the opposite sex was not for them. its really tough when the church teaches you to hate yourself.

He didn't make money doing the Young Gay America project, in fact quite the opposite. I knew him in the old days, and I suspect he has some psychosis now. When he was back here in SF for that editing job, a friend of mine who lives near the Randall Museum ran into him in the nearby park, cruising for sex. My friend told him a lot of people were pretty angry and hurt by him; I suspect he didn't get a very warm welcome back in the Castro, and maybe that's why he's gone back to bible thumping.

Note that I didn't say "get rich," as I've posted this comment elsewhere and people have come to that conclusion. There are lots of people who are perfectly content to work a modest means to an end. There might be some genuine search for identity in his quest. However, I still think in three to five years' time, we'll be hearing something about a blook exposing the ex-gay fraud.

Of course it is possible... As occasionally thinking beings, we can make choices. One can choose pleasure in any form, even if it is not in our nature. One can choose to have a sexual relationship with a kumquat. That does not imply that all homosexuality is a choice but some is. This will lead us confusing not freedom. Many folks suffer from that while having sex. Men and women both suffer from it. It can be dangerous if left untreated. So if he makes love to his lady friend or whatever, it surely will come back to haunt him. He should seek medical attention ASAP.
