Technology truly came in handy for one woman who was smart enough to quickly record footage of a man who broke into her home and sexually assaulted her. ![]()
Caught on tape for the world to see
Now that footage has been released to media outlets.
Sometime around 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday, the 28-year-old woman heard a noise inside her West Oakland apartment on the 900 block of Apgar Street. When she spotted a man in her apartment, she pulled out her cellphone and started recording, according to media outlets.
She reportedly got just enough footage to show his face.
You can even hear her ask him: "How did you get in here?"
The man then robbed her, taking a box of items before apparently leaving her home. But police say he didn't leave.
"He mumbles something like 'Okay, bye,' but what we do know is the suspect
did not leave," says Holly Joshi, spokeswoman for the Oakland Police Department. "He did stay
and he did sexually assault the victim."
The woman asked police to release the footage to help catch the suspect, whom she described as a black man in his early 40s. He has a bald head and medium complexion. He was wearing a blue and white T-shirt and jeans.
