Pink Saturday Shooting: Two Teens in Jail

Original story 7:45 a.m. Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man in connection with the Pink Saturday shooting that wounded five people at the annual Gay Pride celebration.
Gunfire erupted at about 6:15 p.m. on the corner of Market and Seventh streets, near the Pink Pride festivities, which drew thousands of revelers, media outlets are reporting.
Police say the shooting was probably gang-related. Witnesses said they saw two groups of men fighting before shots were fired. Four bystanders were shot as well as one man who was part of the fight, according to police.
All five victims are expected to survive.
"It is known there was some rival gang activity, and he was part of those groups," Lieutenant Troy Dangerfield told the Chron.
The shooting was unrelated to Pride, although some of the victims were there celebrating. It's for reasons like this that the city placed a blanket ban on alcohol at the event, hoping to curb violence after last year's shooting.
Last year, 19-year-old Stephen A. Powell Jr. was killed after Ed Perkins, a suspected gang member, fired shots into the crowd during the Pink Saturday celebration.
