William Meyers, Peninsula Priest with 'Sexual Addiction,' Trails Boy into Dressing Room
The Archdiocese said it was informed Thursday of the incident involving Father William Meyers, the church's pastor. In a visit to the church, San Francisco Bishop William Justice said that "nothing happened" and "the young man said he was never touched," according to KTVU. The boy's father apparently reported the incident to police, who determined no criminal activity had taken place.
Nevertheless, Meyers has been placed on leave.
In what came as a bombshell for parishioners, Justice also said Meyers had admitted to his superiors that he had a "sexual addiction," and had undergone therapy around the time of his ordination in Stockton because he was "struggling with sexual identity."
Nevertheless, Justice said there have been no allegations of improper conduct lodged against Meyers during the past 11 years.
St. Raymond's has an affiliated K-8 school.
