Donald McGuire, Pedophile Priest, Was 'Evil and Perverted,' Jesuits Say

Last week, SF Weekly published a cover story showing that several high-ranking Jesuit priests were aware for years that a prominent member of their order, Donald McGuire, was molesting teenage boys in the Bay Area and elsewhere. Despite this knowledge, they never reported his actions to police or child-welfare workers. The order is now being sued by victims, who say it enabled McGuire's crimes.

As our story was going to press, the Jesuit order filed a response in an Illinois court to plaintiffs' recent motion for punitive damages in the suit. Lawyers for the order acknowledge in the document that McGuire -- who has twice been convicted in criminal courts of molesting children, and is now serving a 25-year federal prison sentence -- is "an evil and perverted man who used his substantial intellectual gifts and his dominating personality to disobey every tenet of his faith and his vows as a cleric."

However, the order also asserts that his colleagues and superiors took reasonable steps to respond to abuse complaints about McGuire, but were simply unable to control him. "McGuire is imprisoned and condemned," the response states. "Punitive damages in this case will punish a defendant [i.e. the Jesuits] that does not merit such punishment."

According to the motion:

The Jesuits have for centuries maintained their Order on the basis of absolute obedience to one's superiors and absolute fealty to the teachings of the Christian faith. In all but the most extreme circumstances, those tools should have been sufficient to influence the conduct of men who made the sacrifices required to enter the priesthood. McGuire, however, was not the usual person and it fairly may be said that for several years, the Jesuits were ill-equipped to recognize and confront the evil acts of one who was determined to intentionally ignore his vow of obedience. Donald McGuire was an accomplished liar who gained fame as a minister of faith even as he purported to teach Christian values around the world. He was a master manipulator, a force of evil whose outward veneer fooled even Mother Theresa [sic]."

(McGuire acted as spiritual adviser and confessor to Mother Teresa, the famed humanitarian nun.)

You can read the full Jesuit response here. Here is a summary of prominent priests who were aware of complaints against McGuire, and source documents (with names of victims redacted) tracing his disciplinary history within the church.

Please pray for the folks (in great pain) who have to live or associate with the people who love the priests who are pedophiles.  Despite all the evidence to the contrary, they believe that the priests are innocent.

The Catholic clergy sex abuse scandal won't be over until the bishops and their henchman, who endanger innocent children by recycling predators, are prosecuted for their inaction. We have perhaps seen the beginning of the end with recent criminal charges filed in Philadelphia, but kids will not be safe until more highly placed heads find themselves on the chopping block.Melanie Jula SakodaSurvivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP)SNAP East Bay Directorhttp://www.snapnetwork... melanie@pokrov.org925-708-6175Toll Free Phone: 1-877-SNAPHEALS (1-877-762-7432)

Not only have the Jesuits turned on Fr. McGuire, they have turned on Fr. Hardon who is up for sainthood and Mother Teresa. If the Jesuits' relpy is true the sainthood process within the Catholic church is nothing more than a scam.

Fortunately, by this time, the courts around the country have just about "heard it and seen it all," in cases of Priest Pedophilia.  Of course the Jesuits want to distance themselves, as far as possible from McGuire and his crimes.  It's too bad that no one ever taught the Jesuit Superiors that they, too, would be held accountable for criminal coverups and the criminal liability could even extend to their massive wealth and properties.  Guess it's time for "Bigtime Money Transfers" into the Vatican Bank.  Follow the money!

We urge anyone, who has knowledge or may havebeen harmed by McGuire, to contact the police or an attorney, not churchofficials. Sexual crimes, however old, should be investigated by theindependent professionals in law enforcement, not the biased amateurs in churchoffices.

Keep in mind your silence only hurts, and byspeaking up there is a chance for healing, exposing the truth, and thereforeprotecting others.

Also know that there is hope, help and youare not alone.

Jesuit Fr. Donald McGuireAccording to this extract from “Appalling Jesuit Cover-up”(cut and paste to your address bar if necessary):http://andersonadvocates.com/P...

June 1, 2000:   “The Jesuits are notified by Fr. Alfred Naucke, the Socius of the California Jesuit Province, with Los Gatos headquarters that [Jesuit Fr. Donald McGuire now serving a 25-year federal sentence since 2008 on charges of molesting minors over a period spanning four decades] may be the legal guardian of 14 year old John Doe 116, and that they were going to be living together.”   In other news Fr. Naucke nostalgically said he taught Fr. Jerold Lindner when Lindner was in high school. Lindner, whose sex abuse settlements cost the Jesuit Order $2 million, is in the national news because he was allegedly struck in 2010 by a man who is alleged to have been sexually abused by Lindner 35-years ago. And now the police are protecting Lindner, once a student of Fr. Alfred Naucke, by helping prosecute a man who is alleged to have been sexually abused by Fr. Lindner.

Yes, right. Embrace him and coddle him, until you get caught and held accountable. Then distance yourself from him. They did the same thing with John Powell SJ, as long as he was a profitable author whose usefulness outweighed his liabilities.
