Empires and Allies, New Zynga Game, Launches Today
| Helllllooo, Scarlett |
What that means is you can expect Empires and Allies to involve combat, which is straying from Zynga's typical nonviolent style you find in games like FarmVille and CityVille, according to Venture Beat.
"It's like CityVille meets Risk," Amer Ajami, the game's executive producer, told reporters.
Gamers expect the less casual and cartoonlike game to expand Zynga's audience, which tends to be the mainstream mom crowd. The fact that Empires and Allies allows users to lob artillery at their friends makes it more appealing to hardcore gamers.
On top of that, more than 30 characters help make the game more fun as users fight to beat back the evil warlord,Raven, while collecting islands. The strategy game has a social component, too where you can enlist your friends to help you in combat or list them as enemies -- if that's what they are.
"It blends hardcore game mechanics with a CityVille-like mechanics of building and maintaining your empire," Agami tells Venture Beat.
The game is available in 12 languages -- English, French, Italian, German, Spanish,
Portuguese, Malaysian, Indonesian, Chinese, Norwegian, and Turkish.
