A passerby spotted Knowlton's body in the Marina near Fort Mason yesterday morning at about 6:30. Adding to the gruesome mystery, police later found a trail of blood leading from the postal store across the street from the Marina Safeway to the Fort Mason Center parking lot before it disappeared.
Police are handing out flyers, asking for the public to help solve the case and find Knowlton's killer.
Police received a call on Monday at about 10:30 p.m. from someone who spotted a trail of fresh blood on Buchanan Street. Police looked around, but found no sign of any victims.
