Skateboarding might not be a crime, but hitting your bus driver with a skateboard is. Police booked three teenagers today on suspicion of assaulting a Muni driver on a bus near Chinatown.

According to police, the teens got onto the 30-Stockton on the corner of Clay and Stockton streets at about 6:19 a.m. on Monday. But the youngsters tried to get a free ride and refused to pay their fare. Instead, they hassled the bus driver to give them transfer slips.

The Muni driver warned them that they needed to pay before they could ride. The kids hopped off the bus through the rear door at the Columbus and Union  stop, but police say they immediately reboarded the bus.

This time, the teens tried to pull the transfers away from the driver. As the driver struggled with one of the kids, another hit him over the head with a skateboard.

All three ran away -- without the transfers.

Police were called to the scene and searched the area. They quickly located the teens who matched the description at Francisco and Powell streets. The cops arrested a 16-year-old male from San Francisco on suspicion of attempted robbery and conspiracy; a 15-year-old male from San Leandro on suspicion of attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy; and a 16-year-old male from San Mateo was booked on an outstanding warrant.

All three were booked into juvenile hall.

This is what you get when kids are raised on entitlement programs. They expect everything should be free.

It has nothing to do with progressive. I support the progressive movement. It has everything to do with CAPABLE americans having enough decency to support themselves so others don't have to. There is a BIG difference.

If I am witness to an assault on a muni driver I would definitely return the favor by doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.  Much like what muni drivers are inculcated to do.

If I knew that MUNI pensions were going to leave my whole generation living in a bankrupt City with a collapsing infrastructure, I might lash out too...

i don't disagree.  I don't advocate violence but San Fran is a Union sorta town that's going way south way quick. LOL, still, seriously, don't let thug 16 year old beat up bus drivers, even if they are part of the union...

Methinks the Chinatown chapter of the "Benevolent Society" will teach these yutes a lesson the justice system never will.
