John Boehner, GOP Speaker, Stops in S.F. Tonight
| Please don't leave your heart in San Francisco |
What question never crossed our mind was whether the man who fought to cut Planned Parenthood spending had any influence in the liberal bastion of San Francisco. But much to our surprise, the Chronicle reports that Boehner will be blowing through Sen. Nancy Pelosi's stomping ground tonight for a high-priced fundraiser at the Fairmont Hotel.
Dems aren't necessarily offended by the speaker's presence. In fact, Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Pelosi, tells Matier & Ross that maybe a trip to San Francisco could be good for the right-wing Boehner.
"Perhaps he'll pick up some of the San Francisco values Republicans have been decrying," Hammill tells the Chron.
Now for the details of the event: A basic meet-and-greet costs $2,500 per person, but if you want to get a little closer to the Speaker, there is a reception and a photo op that will cost you $5,000. And you will have to shell out $25,000 for dinner with Boehner, plus a photo, the Chron reports.
Tomorrow, Boehner will travel down south to the home of Hewlett-Packard executive Michael Holston, who is also known for contributing to Sen. Barbara Boxer.
