Waiting for the next generation
On Friday, we gave iPhone users some grim news -- customers were being overcharged by as much as 300 percent for data they never used. But now we are here to deliver some good -- if not curious -- news: The iPhone 5 will be out in June!

At least that's the buzz among techies.

After Apple's CFO, Peter Oppenheimer, gave Apple's quarterly report, saying that the company expects operating expenses to be about $2.5 billion, Andy Zaky of Seeking Alpha translated that to mean the next version of the iPhone will be released in June.

"Peter Oppenheimer might as well have just said, 'despite what you might hear on Wall Street, we expect the iPhone 5 to be released in late June or early July as planned,'" Zaky writes.

How he arrived at that conclusion is another story.
But according to Zaky:

For everyone living under a rock for the past month, the next generation iPhone's release date - whether it's called the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S or something else entirely - has been wrought with speculation and rumor. Most on Wall Street now expect the iPhone 5 to be delayed for at least three months from its customary release date in late June to some time in early September. Everyone from chip analysts to overseas component suppliers to Apple analysts to journalists who "know people that know people who are familiar with the situation" have all generally agreed that the iPhone 5 is delayed.
As NBC's Jason Middleton pointed out, If anything, at least Zacky has added to the rumor mill.

Is there some reason news about Apple products appears on every website -- even sites that are supposed to be covering *local* news?
