Los Angeles police say they have the "primary aggressor" in the Bryan Stow beating behind bars today. Police raided an East Hollywood apartment building this weekend and arrested 31-year-old Giovanni Ramirez on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

He was arrested on Sunday morning, three miles from Dodger Stadium where Stow, a Giants fan, was savagely beaten after the opener game March 31. According to media outlets, Ramirez has a history of robbery and gun charges.

He is being held without bail.

More than 20 detectives have worked on the case for two months, chasing down leads and calling on the media and the public for help.  Last week, police increased the reward for information leading to the arrest of the attackers to $200,000.

Ramirez's parole agent reportedly tipped police off after noticing one of the men he supervised had a fresh tattoo on his neck, clearly an attempt to cover up anold marking that had been described by witnesses. Officers are still on the hunt for one more suspect and a woman they say drove the getaway car.  LAPD Chief Charlie Beck told reporters that this is a huge crack in the case, and encouraged the other suspects to turn themselves in.

Ramirez, who was arrested in an East Hollywood apartment building, a gritty and rough neighborhood, is being accused of kicking Stow repeatedly while he was unconscious on the ground. Stow was attacked by two men as he walked back to his car after the game. They beat him because he is a Giants fan.

Stow, a paramedic and father of two, remains in a coma at San Francisco General Hospital. Doctors have said that if Stow wakes up, he could have significant brain damage.
