Another Teen Jumps Off Golden Gate Bridge, Survives
| Suicide attempt |
That incident seems even less humorous after this weekend, when another teen jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge in an apparent suicide attempt, according to news outlets.
On Sunday, the U.S. Coast Guard pulled a young woman from the water underneath the midspan section of the bridge. An unidentified person was holding her afloat.
The Coast Guard brought her to shore in Sausalito, where an ambulance was waiting for her, according to bridge spokeswoman Mary Currie.
At first, authorities were unsure whether the girl had fallen off the bridge, or whether she had voluntarily made the dangerous plunge. By Sunday evening, Currie confirmed that the teen -- who was conscious when she was pulled from the water -- had indeed jumped in an attempt to take her own life.
Last month, a Windsor High School teen jumped from the bridge during a class field trip. A surfer helped the kid who later claimed he made the plunge because his hobby was "bridge jumping."
