Uses his bat to simulate gay sex

Atlanta Braves pitching coach Roger McDowell just issued an apology to the Giants fans who he verbally accosted at AT&T Park last weekend when he asked a group of men if they were a homo couple or a threesome.

McDowell followed up his question with another antigay remark, asking, "Are you three giving it to each other in the ass?" He asked this while using a baseball bat to simulate gay sex, according to TMZ.

The two men were with kids, who witnessed the incident. One of the men confronted the coach, who then approached him with the same baseball bat and said, "How much are your teeth worth?"

Gloria Allred, the high-profile discrimination attorney representing the family of four, demanded that McDowell apologize. She wants the Baseball Commission to fine McDowell and the Atlanta Braves.

No fines have been issued, but McDowell did say he was sorry.

"I am deeply sorry that I responded to the heckling fans in San Francisco on Saturday. I apologize to everyone for my actions," he said in a statement released today.

AS an openly gay sports fan, who has been fighting for gay rights for 40 years, and a well known sports fan of the Chicago Cubs... I agree with MLB suspension and accept Roger McDowell's apology. At the same time, I found Mr. Quinn and his Attorney Gloria Allfred's recreation of the purported actions by Mr. Roger in front of Quinn's daughters disgusting!I have known Roger Mc Dowell since 1984, and seen him in every game his team's (Mets,Phillies and Dodgers) played during his distinguish career at Wrigley Field. At no time did I see him or his teammates make obscene or anti-gay gestures towards the fans. I believe that MLB should make sure teams ban fans who heckle ballplayers with obscene or anti-gay slurs from their ballpark. Now let's all play ball!

I deeply saddened and disgusted to see this has happened. Not only the bullying, but the fact that there were children present at a "FAMILY" oriented event. We already know that major league sports are plagued with bigotry and homophobia, this only proves the point! MLB should dismiss this man immediately! What he did was inexcusable on every level. NO APOLOGY can take back what he did or said! Frankly if he threatened the fan with the baseball bat then maybe charges should be pressed against him for threatening bodily injury. Also the LGBT Community should stand in allegiance and either protest future Braves games or show some sign of unity at the game. This is 2011 and it is insane!!!
