Japan Fundraiser Brings in $11,000 -- Jane Kim More Popular Than Burning Man Tickets
| An evening with Jane Kim |
Lunch with Supervisor Malia Cohen? Not so much.
All in all, the Board of Supervisors pulled in $11,390 Wednesday night at a silent auction held for tsunami victims in Japan. Not bad for a group that elevated itself into politics by way of raising money.
The items auctioned off included a bike ride around San Francisco with Chiu, a trip to the Academy of Sciences with Supervisor Eric Mar, and the top bid -- a night on the town with Supervisor Jane Kim, which someone bought for $1,300.
That's more than two tickets to Burning Man, which went for $550.
To spice it up a bit, Kim decided the evening out will include a concert at Yoshi's and dinner -- wherever the buyer wants to go, she said.
So we asked Kim, who is her mystery date?
"I don't know," Kim said. "I was shocked."
Imagine how much money a trip to Burning Man with Kim would have raised.
