Gone for Mexico.
Police are looking for an East Bay teacher who reportedly fled to Mexico after he was accused of inappropriately touching an eighth-grade boy and making lewd comments to other boys at the school.

Charles Redmond, 63, a teacher at Park Middle School in Antioch allegedly touched the boy over his clothes sometime Thursday. The boy went home and told his parents who then contacted authorities.

Redmond, who has worked for the school since 1984, didn't show up for art classes on Friday, according to the school.

Detectives later found a note Redmond had left for his family, saying he would be in Mexico, media outlets are reporting.

A $100,000 warrant has been issued for his arrest on suspicion of intent to commit lewd or lascivious acts with a minor.

If formal charges are filed against Redmond, investigators could begin working with the justice department and Mexican authorities to have him extradited from Mexico.

He is now officially on paid leave.
