A 28-year-old woman was shot earlier today as she walked in the crossfire of a gunman in the Bayview District.

At about 2:30 p.m., the woman was walking into a store near Third Street and Quesada Avenue when she was shot in her left arm. The gunman ran off and she was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The woman was not the intended target in the shooting; police say she was walking past a group of people who might have been related to a funeral that happened earlier in the day. The gunman was possibly shooting at someone in the group, said Officer Eric Chiang.

"We don't know if it was a retaliation," Chiang said.

The gang task force is investigating the shooting. The shooter was described as a 20-year-old black man, wearing a light colored shirt.
