Is this a joke?
Upscale shoe retailer Kenneth Cole created a firestorm after tweeting out the following message: "Millions are in uproar in #Cairo. Rumor is they heard our new spring collection is not available online. -- KC"

The message was not well-received by people across the world, and the retailer quickly took down the post, apologizing for the "poorly timed remark."

"We weren't intending to make light of a serious situation. We understand the sensitivity of this historic moment," the retailer says on Twitter.

And while the message was retracted, it was still found emblazoned on a SOMA Kenneth Cole shop early this morning, according to SFist.

Reporters walked by the store this afternoon only to find employees scraping the offensive message from the store window.

A store employee told SFist, "There's no story here."
