Fiona Ma Invites Donors to Lady Gaga Concert

​Proving that she is no party pooper after all, Assemblywoman Fiona Ma is putting the fun back in fundraiser for her senate campaign with some high-profile bashes including a Giants party and a trip to the Lady Gaga concert.

So put on your orange and black and join Ma on March 3 for her Giants-themed birthday bash, where donors can get a "homerun table" for $500, which buys you a five-course, sit-down dinner at Spire Restaurant in downtown San Francisco. A "fanclub" reception will follow, with beers, appetizers, and presumably lots of talk about baseball and politics -- all for $100.

"Fiona is a huge, huge, huge Giants fan," said a campaign staffer. "We know the season is getting ready to kick-off so she is celebrating by way of the Giants."

And if you prefer dancing to baseball, there's another opportunity to get festive with Ma at the Lady Gaga show on March 23. Her campaign is selling tickets to the show for $1,500 -- space is limited.  

This is the same lawmaker who last year tried to pull the plug on raves with her controversial "Anti-Raves Act of 2011" after the Pop the Dream event at the Cow Palace that left two event-goers dead of drug overdoses.

Ma later backed on that effort, saying she would first attend raves before outright banning them statewide.

Now, she seems to want to be the life of the party. Ma tells us that she doesn't know which Lady Gaga song is her favorite, but indeed the singer has style, she says. "I just like her outfits and how bizarre she is," Ma says. 

A Ma campaign staffer said that the Lady Gaga show is meant to spice up the political climate in Sacramento a bit.

"I don't know if you've ever been to a political fundraiser before, but they are boring," said Julie Sandino, Ma's fundraiser for the event. "We wanted to do something new and fun, especially since there are so many young lobbyists out there."
