Dog Fight in Bernal Heights Leads to Death of Pup
| Muzzle this dog |
A woman was carrying her small dog in her arms along the 300 block of Bradford Street in Bernal Heights when two dogs on leashes were coming toward them. Her dog jumped out of her arms and ran toward the two dogs, police said.
The "bigger white dog" grabbed the woman's small pup in his mouth and tossed and "thrashed" it around. The owners tried desperately to break up the fight, but they couldn't get the bigger dog to let go.
The owner of the two bigger dogs left and said she was going to get help. But she never returned to the scene. The dog dropped the small pooch from his mouth, but by then the dog was dead.
Witnesses called police and an ambulance after the woman said she was feeling sick. Police are still investigating the deadly scuffle.
Meanwhile, dog lovers are pushing back on the federal government's plans to ban dogs from running freely in open spaces and beaches.
