The man who was left brain-dead after a brutal fight at Temple Nightclub last weekend has died, making it San Francisco's fifth homicide this year.

Hernandez was one of four men involved in two separate bar brawls at Temple Nightclub early Sunday morning. At about 1:20 a.m., Hernandez and another man were assaulted by an Asian man. Hernandez was knocked into a coma, while the other victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

About 20 minutes later, three Asian men stabbed two other men with broken bottles. There was also a stabbing at the club Saturday night.

No arrests have been made.

Hernandez died the same day the city's Entertainment Commission ordered Temple Nightclub owners to implement stricter security.

Jocelyn Kane, executive director of the Entertainment Commission, tells the Chronicle that she ordered the club to stop selling bottled beer on weekends and double the number of security cameras at the club, which has a capacity of 700.

She is also asking that the club begin patting down patrons before they enter.

Kane told the SF Weekly that Temple Nightclub, located along Howard Street in SOMA, has not been a problem club in the past.

"I would like the media to look past the blood and guts of the story and have a real conversation about the issues, like who is going out and where the violence is happening, instead of flogging a nightclub, " Kane said.
