Police pulled a corpse from a burning Pontiac early this morning near Webster and Rose streets, according to media reports.

Police told the Chronicle that someone called firefighters at about 3:30 a.m., reporting a car engulfed in flames in the Lower Haight. When firefighters extinguished the fire, they found a body in the passenger side of the car, according to media reports.

The body was so badly burned that authorities could not identify the gender.
