Another homicide
San Francisco had another homicide last night when a man was shot to death in the Bayview District.

Police have not yet identified the victim.

At about 1:30 a.m., the victim and another man were shot inside a home on the 1600 block of Kirkwood Avenue, said Lt. Troy Dangerfield. Police do not know whether the victims lived there and if they knew the shooter.

The shooter and the victims got into an altercation, leading up to the killing, he said. The victims, who are between ages 18 and 20, were shot multiple times.

The victim died and the other man was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police are still at the scene, trying to determine whether the shooting was gang related.

It's San Francisco's ninth homicide of 2011. On Sunday morning, a woman's body was pulled from a burning Pontiac car in the Lower Haight neighborhood. Police are investigating it as a homicide.

The woman has not yet been identified.

Are we going to get a comment from SFPD brass about the fact that we are on pace to more than double the number of last year's homicides?
