Pizza Theft: A Robbery With Extra Cheese
| Stop, thief! |
Details are scarce on the purloined pizza. The 60-year-old Hispanic deliveryman was walking along with his steaming parcel at around 6:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Banks Street when he was assaulted by two young black men who relieved him of his prize.
In the staid language of police writeups, the incident is categorized as a "strong arm robbery." The loss is categorized as "pizza."
Beyond the thin crust of the police report -- "Suspect 1 and Suspect 2 assaulted victim and took his pizza" -- Officer Eric Chiang was able to provide a little more meat.
No weapons were involved, but the unfortunate deliveryman was punched. "They reached into his pockets and tried to look for some money. But they only got the pizza," said Chiang, a police spokesman.
The value of the pizza is unknown.
