You never know...
Comedian George Carlin used to assemble lists of "things you never want to see." One memorable entry: "A man in a hospital gown driving a steamroller."

Something along those lines came to pass in the East Bay over the weekend. Jermaine Grosse, a 26-year-old man who hailed a taxi after being released on Christmas Day from an involuntary psychiatric hold in Martinez, is accused of stealing the taxi as the driver unloaded luggage from the trunk in San Pablo.

Grosse was apprehended on Monday when he tried to register the taxi in his name at the DMV.

Per the Contra Costa Times, an employee at the El Cerrito DMV yesterday called police to report a man using forged documents to register the 2003 Dodge Minivan. When authorities arrived, Grosse ran off but was quickly caught.

He is currently incarcerated at county jail in Martinez on auto theft and forgery charges. It is unknown if Gosse picked up fares between Saturday and Monday.
