Mario Elie, Dana Stubblefield: Bad Day For Former Bay Area Athletes
Former Golden State Warrior Mario Elie, currently an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings, was arrested following an alleged DUI yesterday. He apologized for the incident and admitted he'd had a couple of drinks -- prior to being pulled over at the alarming hour of 11:15 in the morning.
Meanwhile, Dana Stubblefield, a key member of the last San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl team in 1994, was last year sentenced to probation for lying to federal investigators about his steroid use. On Thursday, he was sentenced to 90 days in prison for stealing his ex-girlfriend's mail.
Stubblefield, fittingly, played a prisoner in the 2000 stinker Reindeer Games alongside Ben Affleck. During the making of that film, the former NFL great inadvertently knocked Affleck unconscious, hospitalizing him.
Hopefully that good deed was factored into his sentencing.
