DUI Checkpoints Coming Saturday

That's a trick question, by the way...
You can't say the San Francisco Police Department isn't giving drunken motorists a sporting chance. In announcing today's kickoff of a "17-day crackdown" on drunk drivers, it reveals exactly where the weekend's checkpoints will be.

The SFPD and other local police agencies are hoping to "arrest nearly 100 drivers" between today and Jan. 2. It will likely be 100 people who don't read the following:

On Saturday, officers will be manning a checkpoint at Embarcadero and Washington Streets betwen 8:30 p.m. and 3 a.m. On Sunday, you'd be foolish to swerve a car around Lombard and Divisadero Streets at the same hours.

Should you do so, you'll have lots to explain to members of the SFPD, U.S. Park Police, California Highway Patrol, San Francisco State University Police, and San Francisco Community College Police.
