Watch Zoo Creatures Devour Pumpkins

You're history, Jack
Sadly, the two biggest stories of late to emanate from the San Francisco Zoo were a tiger vaulting its inadequate closure and killing a visitor and a mentally ill man who believed the voice of Tyson Beckford commanded him to wander into the Grizzly Bear Grotto.

There's a different vibe coming out of the Oakland Zoo, meanwhile. Earlier this year, the zoo hit the jackpot, obtaining an African antelope no one knew was pregnant. Two for the price of one.

Now, zoo-goers can revel in the bizarre spectacle of watching large, mostly herbivorous creatures devour rotting pumpkins.

If you can get out in the middle of a working day and watching animals eat is your kind of thing, head to the Oakland Zoo tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. Elephants, meerkats, and even bears will be feasting on truckloads of orange Halloween detritus.

It's especially great fun for those who love animals -- and hate pumpkins.
