Oakland Police Shoot Dog -- Yes, Again
| This is a 37-year-old magazine cover -- no dogs were harmed |
This comes on the heels of last month's lethal shooting of an arthritic 11-year-old yellow lab who purportedly menaced an officer when cops arrived at the Hallock family's Oakland hills home following a burglar alarm call. In that incident, the police left a note to the family reading "Oakland police responded to your residence to investigate a burglar alarm. While circling the rear perimeter, lab advanced on officers in a threatening manner before being shot and killed."
Of course, both of these incidents pale in comparison to May's inexplicable execution of a baby deer that wandered into an East Oakland backyard. You are forgiven if you decide to not watch this film.
Look, we get it -- being an Oakland Police officer is not easy. But there's almost no way to craft horrific PR more efficiently than killing animals. At least animals people like. On that note -- Happy Thanksgiving.
