Machine for Mayor -- Why Not? Here's Why Not.

​We've had great fun with Giants closer Brian Wilson's obsession with "The Machine" -- and the gimp mask-outfitted imaginary killer's odd entrance into San Francisco politics. 

It seems, however, there is someone having more fun with us. His name is Nathan Brown, and he's the man behind MachineForMayor.com.

"Knowing San Francisco, living in it, and loving it as much as we do, we saw The Machine as the perfect combination of intrigue, perceived intelligence, and sadomasochistic appreciation of the political process," said Brown.

Actually ... that makes a lot of sense! Sadly, it comes as a shame that The Machine cannot be mayor. While the Board of Supervisors can name any San Franciscan of voting age to replace Gavin Newsom, it turns out The Machine does not qualify.

Can they make for great TV? Yes. Can they serve as mayor of this city? No.

​Last week, Giants General Manager Brian Sabean noted that The Machine is "the left fielder" -- which would seen to cinch earlier reports that it's Pat Burrell. And yet, Giants officials confirmed Burrell is not a San Francisco resident. While Wilson has a place here, he, too lives elsewhere during the off season, according to the team. Neither appears to be eligible to be mayor of our fair city.

It would seem Brown's preferred Machine candidate is sunk. But the impresario is resourceful.

"I am sure there are plenty of machines out there who will step up, if the need arrives."

It has arrived. Who is man enough to be the machine?
