Google Failure Leads to City Worker Fielding Dozens of Misdirected Calls
Due to a Google quirk, one of the first numbers listed online for Elections is actually the City Administrator's office; until quite recently it was the very first number. Hence, Ashley -- the City Administrator's administrator -- receives a dozen or more misdirected calls daily.
That number can only expect to grow with voting day around the corner.
Any communications the city has made with Google have not resulted in Ashley's less-than-ideal working conditions being alleviated. Our calls to Google's media line rang and rang and rang. No one picked up the phone and no option to leave a message was offered.
Ashley, obligingly, gave us the number she offers to dozens of callers daily. The Department of Elections can be reached at (415) 554-4375. So stop bothering her.
