Gary Scott Holland, Accused of Kathleen Horan Murder, To Be Arraigned

Categories: Crime, Law & Order
Police released this suspect sketch almost simultaneously with Gary Scott Holland's arrest
Gary Scott Holland, the man charged with impersonating a utility worker, talking Kathleen Horan into allowing him into her Russian Hill apartment, and murdering her, will be formally arraigned tomorrow.

Holland, a parolee who served 10 years of a 13-year sentence for attempted murder in Fresno, is facing one count of murder, two counts of residential burglary, one count of residential robbery, and one count of attempted rape. Playing on fears of the recent San Bruno explosion and fire, Holland is accused of using the pretense of searching for a gas leak to convince Horan into opening her door.

Holland was picked up at almost the exact moment police were distributing a suspect sketch appealing to the public for help in tracking down Horan's killer. He was discovered last week lying in the bushes near Sutro Heights Park; police initially approached him because he "seemed like someone who could use our help."
