Deranged Customer Whips Barista

Throw me the latte, I throw you the whip...

​A "psychotic" cafe patron who ate other customers' food didn't take well to being shown the door. The woman brandished a whip and struck a barista after being ordered outside, cafe employees tell SF Weekly.

Police were summoned to the Java Beach Cafe earlier this month following the outburst. According to staff, after being told to leave, the female interloper hurled a chair at the cafe's manager -- who is eight months pregnant -- and then pulled out a leather "Indiana Jones-style whip" and cracked a female barista on the arm.

By the time police arrived from Taraval Station, the attacker had boarded the N-Judah -- which has its turnaround adjacent to the cafe -- and rolled off. The whipped cafe worker told SF Weekly she's "fine."

Cafe staff said they didn't recognize the woman. She remains at large.
