Alex Fagan, the decorated former chief best recalled for his and his son's role in the city's bizarre "fajitagate" scandal will be laid to rest 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral.

Lest passers-by think uncharitable thoughts about the departed Fagan for an event truly beyond his control, the San Francisco Police Department suggests commuters avoid the area of the cathedral -- that'd be Gough and Geary -- between 9 a.m. and noon.

"The public should plan their travels accordingly," is how a release put it. So if you wish to be stuck in an ocean of blue-suited, somber cops -- plan accordingly.
