Lana Lawless, Transgender Woman Golfer, Sues LPGA

• Why not have 3 different classes.... male, female and transgender?

• Since women, fruits, and surgically altered people demand equal rights, maybe all women-only sports organizations should be abolished. If a human other than a man wants to play organized sports, have them play on an equal footing. In golf, have one tee, have women who play tennis play against men, etc. No segregation or special treatment. The freak in South Africa, who lacks a weenie, but has male chromosomes, should participate with men, as should the women. I think this is stupid, but these freaks ask for it.

• If you want zero discrimination then high schools, colleges, and pros should just have one team that both genders compete to be on. We accept that most women cant compete with males on the same level, so teams and leagues are created specifically for women. This guy Lana Lawless isn't being discriminated against any more that Tiger Woods is by not being allowed to play on the LPGA. A castrated male is not a woman.

• I think the point most are missing is that because of taking female hormones and lack of testicles, the transgendered person has muscle mass and strength equivalent to a genetic female, thus arguments of unfair competition become moot. I will admit to being biased against the transgenered because of my prejudicial mindset, and I think that's what happening here. Others should recognize that their lack of acceptance is little more than this.

• Im all for LGBT rights, but this is just silly. She will have an unfair advantage because of her strength and should not be permitted to play in any sports on a womans team. And to Gary's post, Transgender does not equal gay. Go to school and learn a little before posting your hate

• Uhm, to the commentators referring to Lawless as Gay, she is not. There is a difference between Transgender and Gay. As to the rules, I find them unfair but can see the reasoning behind them.

• Taylor - No. Do not do away with gender based competition. There has never been a issue with it in the past. What should take prioirty is ones gender at birth, PERIOD. Once a person has decided to alter that they should understand the give up the possibility/right to participate in (the NEWLEY chosen) gender based sports. It is very unfair to the woman who have worked so hard to compete in a fair and balanced competition.

• When are we going to do away with this silly gender idol that has imprisoned so many people in our culture? Here's the fair solution. Have all of the athletes (male and female) take a strength test, and then put together, whether male or female, all athletes of similar strength. Do away completely with gender-based competition.

• Lana Lawless (AKA Officer Larry Nevins)was a cop at Rialto (CA) PD for a long while. He was a tough ass kicking street cop. I was shocked to find out that he was gay. I never would have guessed it. I guess you can't judge a book by its cover. In hindsight he was overly macho and overcompensated to mask his homosexual tendencies. Very interesting!!!

• Renee Richards sued the USTA over 30 years ago for a similar issue (she was transgender and wanted to play in the US Open Tennis Tournament as a woman, but the USTA also had a "born as a woman" rule)and won her lawsuit, so there is aprecedent for this.

• Isn't this like a woman taking steriods and thus having a unfair advantage.
