Lana Lawless, Transgender Woman Golfer, Sues LPGA

Transgender golfer Lana Lawless is suing two of the country's top golf associations to do away with their ban on trans-women athletes. The Ladies Professional Golf Association -- better known as the LPGA -- is only open to women who were "female at birth." Likewise, Long Drivers of America revised its rules in 2010 to require competitors also be "female at birth." The LDA changed the rules after Lawless won the Long Drive Championship in 2008 with a 254-yard drive.
Lawless, a Palm Springs resident, had gender reassignment surgery in 2005. Her lawsuit was filed in San Francisco-Federal District Court yesterday by attorney Christopher Dolan of San Francisco.

She sent a similiar letter to the Long Drive Association, and they responded much the same:
And, as a result, Lawless is suing them for unfair competition and intentional interference with prospective economic advantage, as well as asking for an injunction to force them to change the policy.
