Outhouse Arsonist Strikes -- Arrest Made
| Is he back? Is he busted? |
Police out of Bayview station arrested a 27-year-old white man charged with immolating porta-potties in the area of Third and 16th Streets. The man was tracked down in the vicinity of Mission Rock and Terry Francois at shortly after 7 p.m., according to sources.
Calls to the San Francisco Police Department have, so far, gone unreturned. So it is not known if the man in custody is suspected of taking part in the bizarre string of doznes of outhouse arsons that captivated the city in 2008 and 2009, garnering international news coverage.
If so, the Dillinger of San Francisco outhouse-related crime has finally met his Biograph Theater.
Update, 10 a.m.: The suspect has been charged with torching seven porta-potties and three hand-washing stations after being spotted hopping a fence by a witness. Police are currently investigating any potential connection to the prior toilet-burning spree.
