Sara Cole, Suburban Mother of Four, Arrested for Sex With Minor

A suburban mother of four towheaded boys has been arrested on charges of unlawful sex with a minor. Sara Cole, 47, of Los Gatos, was yesterday booked into Santa Clara County jail on three counts after a two-month investigation following accusations from the young victim's parents.

Cole had been an object of pride and generosity within her community. Following a horrific 2007 incident in which a drunk driver nearly killed her as she unloaded a bicycle from her SUV, friends, neighbors, and complete strangers held fund-raisers and donated to The Sara Cole Fund. Thee Los Gatos Community Foundation presented Cole with $8,000 toward a wheelchair.

Cole later sued Los Gatos, claiming the city was negligent in not adequately protecting those dropping off children from oncoming drivers, drunk or sober.

The mother of four was interviewed last week by police, and a search warrant was served at her home. The Los Gatos Police department says its detectives seized computer equipment and phones. Cole posted $30,000 bail. Her arraignment date will be Oct. 13.

This is the second bizarre local case of late involving a forthysomething suburban mom accused of sex with minors. Christine Shreeve Hubbs -- known in her Livermore neighborhood as "The Hummer Mom" for her vehicle of choice -- was in August charged with 67 felony counts of sexual assault after allegedly having sex with boys in her Hummer and around the town.
