Michela Alioto-Pier Picks a Successor. Do Voters Care?
| Michela Alioto-Pier's a Mark Farrell fan. Will voters follow? |
It's a legitimate question in a district where Alioto-Pier always retained a high approval rate -- up over 60 percent, we're told -- and a poll revealed her winning in a romp, had she succeeded in her two-year legal odyssey to run again.
That same poll -- which Farrell commissioned -- showed him in a statistical dead heat with Janet Reilly, despite the ostensible front-runner's much higher name recognition and her endorsements from every Democrat under the sun. Reilly has also lined up a number of union endorsements -- but, again, this is District 2. The Marina isn't exactly the most labor-friendly locale; you're not likely to walk into a bar and hear folks singing along to "I Dreamed I Saw Joe Hill Last Night."
Farrell, it warrants mentioning, doesn't yet have an "endorsements" section on his website. With Alioto-Pier in his camp, he could at least set up an "endorsement" section. It's a start.
