Giants Playoff Tickets Sell Out in 30 Minutes

An as-yet imaginary commodity sold at breakneck speed this morning, when Giants playoff tickets were exhausted in half an hour.
A treacherous, 12-game road lies between the team and the postseason -- but that didn't stop 18,000 tickets from being snapped up in mere minutes.
For those of you thinking that 18,000 sounds awfully small for AT&T Park -- you're right. The stadium holds 41,000 and change -- perhaps more depending on the girth of the Standing Room Only crowd. But only 18,000 tickets were today offered to the general public. The rest, team publicity director Shana Daum told SF Weekly, were absorbed by season ticket holders, group sales parties, the undetermined opposing team, and the league.
Doing the math, the Giants hawked 600 tickets every minute -- or 10 a second. There were no in-person sales and fans were forced to try, try, and try again with the team website.
Those who did manage, against the odds, to break through and purchase up to six tickets may have seen fit to spontaneously paraphrase a little Shakespeare apropos for the moment:
