| Efren Valdemoro, the man at the center of a string of suspected murders |
It was a violent end to what appears to be a bizarre murder spree. Valdemoro was the suspected killer of 73-year-old Richardo Sales, who was found dead in his Hercules home on Saturday. Sales' son, Frederick, is still missing. Meanwhile, the bodies of two missing women were found last night at the Vallejo home of Segundia Allen, whose car Valdemoro had been spotted driving. The bodies are believed to be Allen, 63, and Marcaria Smart, 60. Valdemoro purportedly stayed in the home -- which was packed with explosive material, spurring a neighborhood evacuation. And, finally, the car Valdemoro was driving during his ill-fated pursuit contained the body of his yet-unnamed girlfriend, who had been beaten and strangled.
Capping off the disturbing details, Allen's husband has been arrested, and police believe he may have been living alongside the decomposing bodies in the Vallejo home the entire week they were reported missing.
Pleasant Hill Police spotted Valdemoro's Acura last night between 8 and 9 p.m. CHP officers joined the pursuit when Valdemoro drove onto Highway 680. He continued to flee at high speeds, despite blowing a tire. He finally ran from the vehicle at the Pacific East Mall just off Central Avenue in Richmond, and ducked into the 99 Ranch -- which was still open.
CHP officers shot him, allegedly when he refused to drop a large knife.
