Daunte Culpepper, Jeff Garcia Players of the Week. Really.
Fast-forwarding 10 years, much has changed. But former 49er Garcia and onetime Raider Culpepper are still the class of the league -- the United Football League. The two shared Player of the Week honors for directing the Omaha Nighthawks and Sacramento Mountain Lions, respectively, to thrilling victories. Make your jokes involving references to The Wrestler here.
Garcia -- eligible to receive Social Security in 22 years, but you know you'd still like to see him on the Niners again -- tossed a last-second, fourth-down touchdown to topple Hartford, 27-26. Culpepper, meanwhile, rolled up 334 yards in a 24-20 contest vs. Florida.
So, yes Mr. Fitzgerald, there are second acts in American lives. But they sometimes involve Omaha and Sacramento.
