Reports Police Responded an Hour Late to Mission Shooting Inaccurate, Says SFPD

​A disturbing triple shooting on Saturday in the Mission came with its own disturbing sub-story: While eyewitnesses and medical personnel pegged the incident as occurring close to 10:30, the San Francisco Police reported responding at close to midnight.

Did the SFPD let three bloody men roll around on the pavement of 17th and Mission for the better part of an hour and a half? In a word: no. Police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza tells The Snitch that cops erred in telling the media they got the call at 11:54 p.m. on a Saturday.

He explains that fellow spokesman Officer Samson Chan did receive word that the police responded at a shade before midnight -- but it was an error caused by a miscommunication between departments. Only after Chan initially conferred with the media did a police officer who was on the scene contact the Media Relations office to report the error.

Both the weekend crime report and Emergency Services' custodian of records confirm the triple shooting call was received at 10:28 p.m. . The first unit was dispatched at 10:29 and arrived on the scene three minutes later. At least five or six more units were dispatched shortly thereafter.

According to the Medical Examiner's office, the three victims -- including a man who was shot in the chest -- are still holding on.
