Burlingame police last night called at 8:40 p.m. to a disturbance on 217 Myrtle Avenue found one: A 20-year-old man with a knife. Police claim the man advanced on them, and resisted their efforts to detain him. This lead to one officer firing his Taser. This was ineffective, and the suspect was shot by at least one police officer.

He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The San Mateo County coroner deferred on releasing his identity to Burlingame Police -- who also declined to do so at this time.

Per a release prepared by the Burlingame Police, that department is investigating the officer-involved shooting along with the San Mateo County District Attorney. The police involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave.
