Video of Baby Carriage-Pushing Woman's Rough Arrest Triggers S.F. Police Probe

​A video of San Francisco Police either throwing or pushing a profanity-spewing, baby carriage-pushing woman to the pavement during her Sunday arrest has led to a probe of the officer involved. The footage was posted briefly on YouTube before being removed. You can see the video after the jump, however.



This footage was aired by KTVU-TV. The original video was shot, uploaded, and subsequently yanked by a YouTube user going by the handle JH0300. You can see that user's other videos, primarily of people shooting guns and driving trucks, right here. According to a cached YouTube page, only 45 views were made of the July 18 upload: "Drunk mom resists arrest, lands face first on ground in San Francisco."

The arresting officer, a six-year veteran working out of Taraval station, turned in his badge and gun yesterday pending the results of an investigation. Police spokesman Sergeant Troy Dangerfield said this is a "use-of-force probe"and will go further than merely viewing the video.

"It's not necessarily what a trained eye will see. You have to look at the totality of the circumstances," Dangerfield says. "It's hard for people to see the use of force, but it's one of the requirements of the job and sometimes it doesn't look good. But it could be proper."

This video did not catch the SFPD by surprise. "A report was made regarding the incident, so we were very well aware of it," says the spokesman.

Calls to the Police Officer Association -- the San Francisco Police union -- have not yet been returned.

According to the Chronicle, the woman in the video subsequently bit her attending paramedic.
