If you're about to head out to Golden Gate Park for an early morning walk or jog -- either pack a suit of armor or think again. KTVU-TV is reporting that a pair of vicious pit bulls roaming the area have attacked several people, triggering a police response.

The attacks have purportedly taken place in the vicinity of Lloyd Lake, near Fulton and Crossover drive. Pedestrians are urged to avoid the area as police search for the animals.

Update, 7:45: KTVU reports that one dog has been captured by police and animal control officers. Another dog was fired on by SFPD officers; it is uncertain if it was hit. At least two people have been hospitalized with bite wounds.

Update, 8 a.m.: Both dogs have now apparently been captured.
