Transbay Terminal's Last Tour Today Won't Mention Homeless Hordes

The 1939 building has largely fallen out of use, and will be soon be replaced by a $4 billion transit center. This is your final chance to meander through previously closed off areas, including the old bar -- Cuddles, the shoe shine shop, the jail, and the diner. One thing your tour guide won't bring up, however, is the man you stepped over to better view the historic decor.
In the past two decades, much of the Transbay Terminal has been claimed by homeless people, but they will not be mentioned or featured on the tour, according to Courtney Lodato, a spokesperson for the Transbay Joint Power Authority.
As of yesterday, Lodato said, the Terminal looked like it had pretty much been cleared out of residents. The demolition of the structure is scheduled to begin August 13.
